Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about SriAI — credits, models, privacy, and more.
What is SriAI?
SriAI is an AI chat platform built specifically for Sri Lankan students. It gives you access to Anthropic's Claude AI models — the same frontier AI used by researchers and professionals worldwide — at prices in Sri Lankan Rupees, paid via local bank transfer. No international credit card needed.
How is SriAI different from ChatGPT or Claude.ai?
The main difference is payment. ChatGPT and Claude.ai require an international Visa or Mastercard, which most Sri Lankan students don't have. SriAI accepts local bank transfers in LKR, making the same AI technology accessible to anyone in Sri Lanka. We also tune the AI specifically to help with Sri Lankan school subjects, the O/L and A/L curriculum, and university entrance preparation.
Who can use SriAI?
SriAI is open to anyone in Sri Lanka — school students, university undergraduates, and working professionals. You must be 13 years or older to create an account. We recommend parental guidance for students under 16.
Do I need a credit card to sign up?
No. Signing up is completely free and requires no payment details. You receive 20 free credits immediately on registration — enough to try the platform and get a feel for how it works. You only need to pay if you want more credits after your free trial.
How do I get started?
Create a free account at sriai.app/signup. You'll receive 20 free credits instantly. Open the chat, type your question, and SriAI will respond. No setup, no downloads, no credit card.
What are credits?
Credits are SriAI's unit of usage. Every message you send and receive uses a small number of credits, based on how many words are processed. Shorter questions use fewer credits; long conversations with detailed answers use more. You can always see your remaining credit balance at the bottom of the chat input.
How many free credits do I get?
Every new account receives 20 free credits on signup. This is enough for a handful of conversations — roughly 10–20 typical student questions answered by the Haiku model, or 2–4 longer essay-level responses from Sonnet.
What are the paid plans?
We offer three plans:
Free — 20 credits on signup, access to Haiku model only.
Student (LKR 2,000/month) — 3,000 credits per month, access to both Haiku and Sonnet models.
Pro (LKR 3,000/month) — 5,000 credits per month, priority access to both models, ideal for heavy daily use.
What is the difference between Haiku and Sonnet?
Haiku is fast and efficient — perfect for quick questions, grammar checks, maths problems, definitions, and straightforward explanations. It uses fewer credits per message.
Sonnet is more capable — better at complex reasoning, essay writing, long-form explanations, coding, and multi-step problem solving. It uses more credits but produces noticeably higher-quality responses for hard tasks.
For most day-to-day study questions, Haiku is the right choice. Switch to Sonnet when you need deeper analysis or a polished essay draft.
How do I pay? What payment methods are accepted?
We accept local Sri Lankan bank transfers (online banking or branch deposit). After initiating a transfer, you submit your bank reference number through your SriAI account. Our team verifies the transfer and activates your credits within 24 hours. We do not currently accept card payments or cash.
Do credits expire?
Unused credits from a monthly subscription roll over for one month and then expire. Top-up credits (one-time purchases) do not expire. Free trial credits expire after 30 days from signup.
Can I get a refund?
Yes — unused credits can be refunded within 30 days of purchase, provided less than 10% of the purchased credits have been used. Contact us at [email protected] with your payment reference number to request a refund. See our Terms & Conditions for full details.
What subjects can SriAI help with?
SriAI can help with virtually any academic subject, including:
Sciences: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Combined Maths, Agriculture
Humanities: History, Geography, Economics, Political Science, Buddhist Studies
Languages: English, Sinhala, Tamil — essay writing, grammar, comprehension
Commerce: Accounting, Business Studies, Economics
Technology: ICT, Engineering Technology
It can also help with university subjects across Engineering, Medicine, Law, Management, and more.
Can SriAI help me prepare for O/L and A/L exams?
Yes. SriAI is specifically designed to help Sri Lankan students at every level. You can ask it to explain syllabus topics, solve past paper questions step-by-step, create study plans for specific subjects, summarise key concepts, generate practice questions, or review your essay drafts. It understands the Sri Lankan curriculum structure.
Can I use SriAI in Sinhala or Tamil?
Yes. You can type your questions in Sinhala, Tamil, or English and SriAI will respond in the same language. The AI performs best in English, but handles Sinhala and Tamil questions well for most academic topics. You can also set your language preference in Settings.
Is there a mobile app?
Not yet — SriAI is currently a web app that works well on mobile browsers. Open sriai.app on your phone's browser and it works like a native app. You can add it to your home screen: on Chrome, tap the menu → "Add to Home screen". A dedicated Android and iOS app is planned.
Can SriAI write my essays or assignments for me?
SriAI can help you plan essays, suggest improvements, explain how to structure an argument, and review your drafts. We encourage you to use it as a study partner, not a ghostwriter. Submitting AI-generated work as your own may violate your school or university's academic integrity policy. Use SriAI to learn faster, not to bypass learning.
Is my data private? Can anyone see my conversations?
Your conversations are private by default. SriAI staff do not read your chat history unless required to investigate a specific abuse report. Your messages are sent to Anthropic's API to generate responses — Anthropic's data handling policies apply to that processing. We do not sell your data to third parties. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Does SriAI store my conversations?
Yes. We store your conversation history so you can return to past chats and continue where you left off. You can delete any conversation at any time from the sidebar. Deleted conversations are permanently removed from our database.
Is SriAI safe for school-age students?
SriAI is configured with a system prompt that focuses it on educational topics and declines requests for inappropriate content. The underlying Claude models have strong built-in safety filters. That said, no AI filter is perfect. We recommend parents stay aware of how their children use the platform, and we require users to be 13 or older.
Can my teacher or school see what I ask SriAI?
No. Your conversations are tied to your personal account and are not visible to teachers, schools, or any third party. The only people who could access your conversations are you and, in exceptional circumstances, SriAI's trust & safety team as outlined in our Privacy Policy.
How do I change my password?
Go to Settings → Security. Enter your current password and your new password (minimum 8 characters). Your password is hashed with bcrypt and never stored in plain text. For security, all your active sessions are invalidated when you change your password.
I forgot my password. What do I do?
Password reset via email is coming soon. In the meantime, contact us at [email protected] with your registered email address and we will manually reset your account after verifying your identity.
How do I delete my account?
Account self-deletion is on our roadmap. Currently, email us at [email protected] from your registered address with the subject "Delete my account". We will permanently delete all your data within 7 business days and confirm by reply.
